Many ways to serve

I am always amazed at the hearts of the teachers and leaders in LHC Kids Children's Ministry. Every weekend God reveals to me a new direction, a new friend, a new battle or a new joy.

I know God loves that we do what we do. I know God loves that we love His children.

From making snacks for the people who teach our children, to a teacher in the infant room, to Large Group Leaders teaching 80+ preschoolers a Bible lesson, to smiling faces greeting our families at the door, to our Security Guard keeping our hallway safe.

It doesn't matter what the job is. I doesn't matter how many hours you are here. What matters is that you answer God's call to serve. Wow, that was a revelation to me. I am the queen of fill my plate until it bubbles over with stress on me and on my family! When that happens it is all about me and not God's call.

I can honestly say I can respect when someone tells me "No!". I may wine about it for a moment (or two), but I get over it. It is not about me. I have to tell myself, "Who am I to feel like I know what God wants in someones life?" God always has His people waiting in the wings, ready to serve.

God has grown me in the 11 months as Director. I appreciate Him more and I appreciate our serving team more. I have to thank each one who serves and every parent who brings their children to church on Sunday. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!

LHC Kids News Flash!

What a joy it is to see God working in the lives of our children here at Lake Hills Church. We were honored to baptize 10 kids this past Sunday night - allowing them to make public their decision to trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! How exciting it has been to see new faces each week learn more about Jesus as well as new faces serving in the classrooms. As we enter into the Thanksgiving season, we wanted to let you know of how thankful we are for some very special people.

We thank God for Susan Dunaway, our LHC Kids Administrative Assistant. Susan has been keeping this ministry organized in so many ways as well as helped us launch our LHC Kids Downtown Ministry. Her passion for ministry has been so evident in many ways and God has truly used her role here to help us reach more kids for Christ. We rejoice (with a heavy heart) in sharing the news with you that Susan will be stepping down from her position here to become a parent! This will be an exciting time in her life and we look forward to being able to minister to her family in the same way she has so faithfully served us.

We thank God for Denise Grosch, our LHC Kids Early Childhood Assistant. Denise has been the backbone of our Sunday morning services in the Base Camp Hallway. She has cut, copied, sorted, colored, ordered, organized, recruited, ministered, and everything else you can think of doing with supplies and volunteers. We have been truly blessed with her heart for making sure families receive the blessings of weekly teaching and worship. We rejoice again (with a heavy heart) in seeing Denise transition to the LHC Financial Office. She will continue serving with a passion for organization and love for people in a different department.

We thank God for Margo Khollman who will be our new LHC Kids Administrative Assistant. Margo and her family have been members of LHC for many years and has faithfully been serving in the Elementary area with her husband and twin daughters. Her passion for ministry and amazing organizational skills will keep LHC Kids headed in the right direction!

We thank God for Allie Alter who will oversee our LHC Kids Downtown Ministries. As an elementary school teacher, Allie brings an expertise in education with her servant's heart for reaching families in the Downtown are for Christ. She and her husband have already been active leaders downtown and look forward to serving in this capacity.

We thank God for Sara Allard who will be our new LHC Kids Early Childhood Assistant. Sara is a mother of two preschoolers and has a unique and exciting passion for this ministry. Sara has been very active on Sunday mornings as well as in Mom to Mom and brings a creative parent's perspective to this ministry. Sara and her husband look forward to how God will use them in this ministry.

We thank God for YOU! Thank you for allowing us to join you in the spiritual growth of your children. Please feel free to drop in the office or give us a call to meet the new LHC Kids Team or to let us know how we can pray for your family. As our theme verse for this ministry says, we look forward to "telling the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders He has done!"

November Themes

This month, LHC Kids will be studying the life of Moses. We will look at how we should have confidence, but that confidence should be through God and the things He can do through us. As Paul says in Philipians 4:13, "I can do anything by the power of Christ. He gives me strength." Also, our service project is "Coats for Kids". Please bring us your gently worn coats so we can give them to people in need.

Being Bold

Once, Philip and I were out to dinner at an out-of-town conference. Philip surprised me by asking our server if she had any prayer requests. She was a little taken aback, but managed to get a few requests out. We talked and we found out she went to the church that hosted the conference we were attending. And I'll never forget how she thanked us (and when I say "us", I mean Philip), for being bold. The Table Talk for October 26th challenged the kids to do this same thing the next time they went out to eat. Big props to LuLu Noack for doing that this week and taking the time to remember those who serve our meals. Way to be bold!

November Is Here!

I can't believe it is still this warm in November. I know most of you all are used to this weather, and let me tell you that our family loves it! As we prepare for the month of November here at LHC Kids, we must be thankful. Thanksgiving is still a few weeks away, but why wait? 1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us to "give thanks in all circumstances." We can already be sharing our thanksgivings with each other in our families. Let your kids know how thankful you are that God brought you such wonderful children. As we study our theme of confidence this month, it is important to teach our children that God gives us confidence in our lives on a daily basis. By thanking your children for tasks done around the house, having a clean heart in all situations, and showing love for each other you are giving them the confidence they need to face each day.

As a team, we also thank each of you for your passion for ministry not only here at LHC Kids, but at home. Thank you for allowing us to partner alongside you on this spiritual journey in your child's life. Keep up the great work at home and we promise to help build your confidence as a parent. Don't forget to look at your Table Talk each week to get some great ideas on teaching your kids this month about confidence in Him!
